The tower light
A red beacon out where there is no tower on any map.
Jonah followed it in an October storm in 1976 because the road bent that way and the light was the only thing in the dark. He has not found the road out since.
Ruthie's warnings, in order: don't follow music in the woods, don't answer a radio that calls your name, and don't take a light for a landmark just because it's the only one.
